Elinor Mary Sylvester

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday June 23, 2016 in St. Joseph’s Church, Belmont for Elinor M. Sylvester.

Ms. Sylvester passed away on Sunday morning in the Lifecare center of Stoneham after a long period of declining health.  She is the daughter of the late Martin & Catherine McHugh.  She was 80 years of age.

Elinor graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Watertown. She worked at Western Electric in Watertown and retired from Mclean Hospital in the Accounts Department. After she retired from McLean Hospital in 2001, Elinor was very active in St. Joseph’s Church in Belmont and served as a Eucharistic minister and volunteered at the Pine St Inn and enjoyed long walks and reading.

She is the loving mother of Debra C. Sylvester of Malden and the late Francis Sylvester.   Dear sister of Marion Woodcock and her late husband Curt of Arlington, Margaret and her husband Michael O'Neill of VA, John McHugh and his wife Ellen of Sandwich. She also leaves several devoted and loving nieces and nephews: John and Tina McHugh of Needham, Marybeth Carlisle of Duxbury, Tracy and Mike Hewett of Duxbury, Meghan and Michael Grimaldi of Duxbury, Kathleen and David King of Florida. Elinor graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Watertown. She enjoyed long walks and reading.

A visitation hour will be held on Thursday morning, June 23, 2016 from 8:30 -10 am in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, 270 Main St., Watertown.

Funeral Mass at 10:30 am in St. Joseph’s Church, 130 Common St., Belmont. Relatives & friends kindly invited. 

Interment, St. Patrick Cemetery.
