Maher, Gertrude “Jeanne” (Ouellette) of Watertown MA, Edgewater CO, & Marshfield MA, August 5, 2017. Age 94.  Beloved wife of the late Thomas F. Maher, Esq. Devoted mother of Edwina M. Spillane & her husband Richard of Lexington, Barry E. & his wife RoseMarie of Corona CA, Sheila M. & her husband Daniel Coyle of Washington DC, Dr. Jeanne-Marie & her husband Michael Pahl of Nashua NH, Stephen M. & his wife Sheryl of Marshfield, Shannon M. & his wife Cynthia Bellomy of Bend OR, & the late Spec. 5 Thomas F. Maher Jr.  Loving grandmother of Richard Spillane II, Charles Khoury, Stephen Jr., David, Michael, Catherine, Erin, & Jamie Maher. Also loved by many nieces & nephews.

Born in Countess, Alberta, Her parents subsequently moved to Pittsfield, MA where after high school Jeanne trained to be an RN and joined the Army Nurse Corp where she was one of the few who attained the rank First Lieutenant. It was during her service where she met and married her husband Thomas F Maher. She was the mother of seven children which she raised with love. After all the children were on their own she moved to Edgewater, CO, where she lived until she returned to New England. Jeanne was a devout Catholic which gave her much comfort and strength throughout her life. A strong and active woman, She walked five miles a day until well into her 80’s. Jeanne was always loving, positive and happy. She passed from this life peacefully, surrounded by her family.

Family and friends will gather in Sacred Heart Church, 16 Follen Road Lexington for visitation on Wednesday, August 9 from 10:00 - 11:00 followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM.

Interment Cambridge Cemetery. 

1st Lieutenant US Army WWII.
