A Funeral service for James F. “Harry” Harrington will be celebrated in the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, Watertown on Thursday, February 4th, 2016 at 7:30 PM. 

 

Harry was the son of the late Francis J. & Lillian (Oliver) Harrington.  He passed away in Cambridge, on Friday evening at the age of 65.

 

Harry was born and raised in Cambridge and was a lifelong resident of the city.  He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Cambridge class of 1968. In high school he was a star athlete, his athletic skills and speed were unrivaled.  After high school, Harry joined the United States Army were he received the rank of specialist 4th class. He received a national defense service medal and a Vietnam service medal with 2 stars during his enlistment. Harry was a proud member of the Cambridge Fire Department; he spent most of his career at Station 9 on Lexington Ave. He also worked construction as a tiler. Harry was imbedded in his community; he gave up his time to coach youth sports in Cambridge. He coached many children in Cambridge youth baseball and pop warner football.

 

He was the beloved husband of Theresa M. (Burke).  Loving father of Jennifer M. Harrington, Matthew J. Harrington both of Cambridge & the late Lindsay N. Harrington, grandfather of Naomi. Dear brother of Patricia MacDonald of SC, Robert Harrington & his wife Kathleen Wheeler of Cambridge, Elaine Harrington of Cambridge, Daniel M. Harrington & his wife Barbara of Plum Island and Janice Tingle & her husband Garrett of Cambridge.  Also loved by many nieces & nephews.

 

Visiting hours will be held in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. Watertown on Thursday Feb. 4th, from 4-7:30 PM. A prayer service will immediately follow. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
