A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday May 8th, 2017 in Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, 573 Washington St, Newton at 9:00 AM for Mario Coppola.
Born in Atina, Italy, Mario was the son of the late Fiorino and Marietta (Rosati) Coppola. He passed away Tuesday evening in Newton after a period of declining health. Mario was 79.
He was the beloved husband of Joan F. (Connors) Coppola. Mario and Joan were married on November 26, 1960 in St. Charles Church in Waltham. The two of them were happily married for 56 years.
Mario worked as a heavy equipment operator for L. Salvucci Masonry, Inc. in Waltham. He worked diligently up until his retirement in 2003. Mario was also a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 4.
Mario had a passion for cooking, gardening, and visiting Nantasket beach. He even took up playing the accordion. But his biggest passion in life was his family. Being a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and cousin meant the world to Mario.
He was the loving husband of Joan F. (Connors). Loving father of Rosemarie Hogan & her husband Matt of Newton, John & his wife Claire of Forestdale, Mark & his wife Laura of FL, Nancy Dicker & her husband Tom of Watertown, and Brenda Fitzpatrick & her husband Scott of Canton. Dear brother of Lydia Cervi of Ontario and the late Alessandro, Ninetta, & Aldo Coppola. Doting grandfather of Angela, Kyle, Briana, Shauna, Lauren, Jeffrey, Tommy, Toria, and Jack Mario.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday May 8th, 2017 in Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, 573 Washington St, Newton at 9:00 AM. Relatives & friend kindly invited.
Burial in Newton Cemetery, Newton following the Mass.
Visiting hours, Sunday 2-6 PM.
