A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday October 11, 2016 in St Patrick Church, Watertown at 9:00 am for Mary C. (O’Connell) Bloomer.
Mrs. Bloomer, a daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (McGovern) O’Connell was born in South Boston. She died peacefully at home at the age of 83, October 6, 2016 surrounded by her family, friends and beloved pet Misty.
Mary was the loving wife of the late Harold J Bloomer, who passed away at an early age of 54 in 1980. Mary was a graduate of Nazareth High School in South Boston. Later she married and moved to Watertown and became a devout member of St. Patrick’s Parish.
As a young woman, Mary devoted her life to her husband and children. Along with her family and church, Mary had a passion for bowling, traveling, walking, and animals. She had grit and determination that served her well raising seven children, but never lost the capacity to love.
Devoted mother of Jack Bloomer & his wife Robin of Hopkinton MA, Kathy Bloomer & her partner Stacie Grove of Saco ME, Eileen Stanowicz & her husband Paul of Waltham MA, Danny Bloomer& his wife Cheryl of Watertown MA, Mary-Kate Bloomer & Lou Reczek of Littleton MA, Karen Bloomer & Guinness of Watertown MA, and Michael Bloomer & his wife Christine of Windham NH. Dear sister of Dorothy Kelly and sister-in-law Joan Malis. Caring Sister to several predeceased siblings and in-laws. Faithful friend to childhood friends Mary and Nora Barrett. Loving grandmother of Brandon, Garrett & Aidan Stanowicz, Sean, Ryan, Timothy, & Liam Bloomer.
In addition, her loving and compassionate nature inspired many to refer to her affectionately as “Ma Bloomer”.
She loved and was loved by all that knew her. God Bless MA Bloomer.
Funeral from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. Watertown.
Visiting hours Monday from 4 to 8 PM
Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
