I was fortunate to have taught at Watertown High School a number of years with Olga, and I have such fond memories of her--- a kind, sensitive, loving woman who thought of teaching as a "true calling". She loved her work; she loved her students; and, as I found through numerous conversations with her, she loved her family as much as life itself.
She was a wonderful woman and she will be missed.

Lovely, thoughtful words- thank you Barbara. I have so many memories of Aunt Olga, although my favorite are from her days in Boothbay Harbor. She seemed so happy there, in her element. Thoughts and prayers with all of you. XO

Truly a life long learned who influenced many people. Her fabulous family, her teaching profession, her many business ventures were all her loves. She gave me that urge to keep learning. I will never forget our many conversations. My prayers are with you all.

Oh my goodness, Mrs. Carito. I remember you so well, you instill a passion in me for numbers and math. I think of you often to this day. (as a matter of fact just last night at the end of mass a friend of mine stopped me and said my son is struggling with Algebra 2, I told them how I used to put "Math is Fun" signs up at my house when I helped not only my daughters but my wife with math homework). Gosh, I could go on...Thank you for your years of service.

For the family tree that she left behind, here is the mantra I made up when my mom passed about a year ago. God created us as amazing creatures, ones that can fill the holes in their hearts with the memories in their minds. May Mrs. Carito rest in eternal peace, and may you all find comfort at this time.

One of the blessings I value most in my life was knowing Olga. She was an inspiration- her love was tireless, she was persistently cheerful- even during difficult times, she was youthful- even as she aged, and she was always grateful. She was a woman ahead of her times. Her faith was a strong and compassionate one. Her curiosity was ageless. I'm lucky to have been changed for the better by being in her company. I will always remember her laughs (and giggles), nights watching her play Kalooki with her friends, rainy days watching movies or BookTV together, her warm, open-armed hospitality, afternoons hearing her sing while she cooked yet another, delicious meal made with care.... I know this indomitable spirit of hers will remain and be passed on by her dear family and by all of us fortunate to have known her. I pray for peace and comfort to her family and friends.

My condolences to the entire Carito family. I count myself as among the very fortunate graduates of Watertown High School during the years that Mrs. Carito taught math. She was truly unforgettable as one of the best teachers and one of the best all around people you could ever find. She cared for all of her students like they were just all her own kids. Her infectious smile and always positive outlook. She embodied "no child left behind" long before anyone used that term and she was one of the most tireless people you would ever want to meet. Everyone knew about "H block" (there were really only A-G), where she stayed to help anyone who needed that extra instruction and that room was always full and you wouldn't see her getting into that classic old Chevy to go home until hours after the last bell rang. The world is a better place because of her and would be much better if more of us could all live like her.

My mother Frances and I were both saddened to hear that Olga has now returned home to God. During our several stays in Boothbay Harbor, she became a cherished friend to my mother and to me. We have so many fond memories sitting and conversing with her on the porch overlooking "her" beautiful harbor. Her generosity of spirit and her big heart were a gift to all of us that had the privilege of knowing her. We are sure that she is now experiencing the joy of Heaven for a life well-lived.

Our son, John and our daughter, Mary worked for Olga at the bed and breakfast in Maine. It was through our kids that we had the honor and pleasure of meeting and spending time with Olga. She was exceptionally warm and welcoming. Many blessings to the family.
