Richard was my first cousin and 10 years older than me. He served as a United Methodist pastor in another Conference, as I served in East Ohio Conference, but to many, I met from the New England area I would always mention him and reflect with them on his ministry.
When I was very young he came to Ohio for college and visited our home a few times. Once I remember he was at our home church and the Pastor asked him to give the benediction, I assumed without much warning, but I still remember what he said. " And the wolf will lie down with the lamb and a little child will lead them, and they will turn their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks, and the shall learn war no more." That was over 50 years ago, but I still remember his voice and those words, from the scriptures and his heart. So may it be.
