Campbell, John A. of Maynard, formerly of Watertown, July 22, 2010. Born in Glenora Falls, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on January 23, 1929. Beloved husband of 48 years to Beatrice (MacDonell). Devoted father of Sharon Quinn & her husband Joseph of St. Louis, MO, Carleen Connors & her husband Timothy of Ashland, John Campbell of Maynard, Brendon Campbell & his wife Jessie of Framingham and Pamela Campbell & her fiancé Brad Gould of Rochester, NH. Dear brother of Angus, Alexander & Mary Campbell-Jamieson all of Glenora Falls, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Margaret Campbell of Brighton, Helen MacLaren of Ontario, Ann Brown of Florida and the late Katherine White, James Campbell & Donald Campbell. Loving grandfather to Connor, Caroline & Corey Quinn, Hannah & Timothy Connors II and Johnny & Lindsey Campbell. John was an accomplished Scottish violinist, composer, recording artist and music instructor. John was recognized as one of Nova Scotia’s greatest violinists. He was extremely well known as a tune composer and his most widely known composition is Sandy MacIntyre’s Trip to Boston which has been played and recorded by musicians all over the world. He was a member of the Canadian-American Club, Gaelic Club, Music Union and also a graduate of the New England Fuel Institute. John worked in the Boston area as a service technician for over forty years. He thoroughly enjoyed his summers with family and friends at his summer home in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia which was so dear to his heart. Funeral from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in Watertown Square at 6 Riverside St. (cnr. Of No. Beacon St.) Watertown on Monday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 O’clock in the Church of St. Patricks 212 Main St. Watertown. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 PM. Funeral Home handicapped accessible.
