A Funeral Mass for Amelia Mary (Abruzzi) Papalia will be celebrated on Thursday, January 7, 2010, in the Chapel of Saint Patrick’s Manor, Framingham.
Mrs. Papalia, a daughter of the late Dominic and Catherine (Simeone) Abruzzi, was born in Waltham, Mass. She was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School, Waltham, and lived in Watertown for 45 years, before moving to Framingham 10 years ago. She died on Monday, January 4, 2010, in St. Patrick’s Manor, Framingham.
Mrs. Papalia, a member of Saint Luke’s Sodality, Belmont had also been an active Parishioner. In addition, she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a life member and Past Treasurer of the Cornelia dei Gracchi Ladies Lodge, Order Sons of Italy in America, in Watertown. Mrs. Papalia, a former poll worker for the Town of Watertown during elections and a volunteer Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, was a former office manger at Field Premium in Watertown.
She was the beloved wife of the late Sgt. John F. Papalia (Watertown Police Dept.) who died in October 1978; devoted mother of Donna J. Gulley and her husband Thomas Gulley of Wayland and John F. Papalia and his wife Donna Papalia of Katonah, NY; dear sister of the late Rocadella Morreale, Andrew Abruzzi, Clara Abruzzi, Carmela Bushey, Sgt. Guido Abruzzi (USAC), Valentino “Val” Abruzzi, and Louis Abruzzi; darling grandmother of Thomas E.”Ted” Gulley and his wife Karen of Mansfield, Nicole D. Gulley of Watertown, Lynne D. Cabiati and her husband Paul of Brewster, NY, Alyson M. Papalia of New York City and Daniel J. Papalia of Katonah, NY; and loving great-grandmother of Ryan Cabiati, Lucas Cabiati, Meghan Gulley and Drew Gulley.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM in the Chapel of Saint Patrick’s Manor, 863 Central St., Framingham 01701. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
Calling hours will be in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Wednesday, from 4-8 PM and in St. Patrick’s Manor on Thursday morning at 8:30-9:45 AM prior to the Mass. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.
