Bessie B. "Bess" (Buckingham) Hughes

Hughes, Bessie B. “Bess” (Buckingham) died peacefully at age 100 in Hallowell, Maine on May 3, 2018 with her granddaughter at her bedside.  She was a long time resident of Watertown.

Wife of the late David I. Hughes, mother of the late Douglas A. Hughes.  Survived by daughter, Amy E. Hughes and her wife, Celeste A. Gaylord, of Winthrop, Maine; grandchildren Isaiah Peppard and his wife, Stephanie, of Farmingdale, Maine, and Hannah P. Goss and her husband, Ralph S. Goss of Gray, Maine; and Celeste's children Josh Haefele and his wife Alison of Portland, Maine, Chad Haefele and his wife Kate Imbruno of Winthrop, Maine, and Kayla Haefele of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandchildren Lauren and Bingham Goss.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Daughter of the late Frederick and Sarah (Silliman) Buckingham of Chester, CT, and sister of the late Mary B. Chapman of Manchester, CT.  

A Memorial Service will be celebrated in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Friday May 18th, 2018 at 12 Noon. Relative & friends kindly invited.

Graduate of the University of Connecticut.  

Longtime member of Phillips Congregational Church in Watertown.
