Marie King (Cancellieri) Darnell

Marie L. Darnell passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche (Hitrusko) Cancellieri. Born and raised in East Boston, Massachusetts, she was the sister of Joseph Cancellieri and the late Blanche (Cancellieri) Mattson.

She met her first husband, Donald King, and moved to Somerville, MA where they raised four children. Mrs. Darnell worked for R.H. Stearns and Blue Cross Blue Shield. After Donald's death in 1970, she eventually remarried in 1987 and moved to Newton, MA before the couple relocated to Florida. She enjoyed travelling, painting, quilting, gardening, and spending time with friends and family. Marie was known for her quick wit, generosity, and determination. She spent fifteen years in St. Augustine, FL before returning to Massachusetts to care for the love of her life, Robert. 

She was the beloved wife of Robert Darnell and the late Donald King. Devoted mother of the late Donald T. King & his wife Bonnie of NY, Jeffrey J. King & his wife Ilda of No. Reading, Daniel F.X. King & his wife Muriel of CT and Thomas G. King & his wife Joanne of Reading. Loving step-mother of Deborah A. Darnell of AZ, John W. Darnell & his wife Dana of PA, Thomas E. Darnell & his wife Susan of Norwell, Kevin M. Darnell of Watertown, Kathleen Eid & her husband Paul of Dedham, William G. Darnell & his wife Joann of Medford, Ronald P. Darnell & his wife Dawn of Ashland. Also, deeply loved by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Funeral from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. on Rt. 20, WATERTOWN on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Newton Cemetery.

Visiting hours Monday 4-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
