A Funeral Mass for Marie E. (Loughlin) Laughrea will be celebrated on Tuesday April 23rd, 2019 at 9:00 am, in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.
A daughter of the late Joseph F. Loughlin and Catherine (McDonough) Loughlin, Marie passed away Sunday evening. She was 91.
Marie was born in Waltham and raised in Watertown and graduated from Saint Patrick High School. Later in life, Marie went on to receive a degree from Framingham Teachers College, and then a Masters Degree from Boston University. Early in her career, she worked diligently as a public school teacher at the Henry Whittemore Elementary School in Waltham. Her real passion was providing a loving home for her three children and her husband, Bill. After raising her children, Marie enjoyed working as a substitute teacher and teacher’s assistant in the Burlington school system. Throughout life, she and Bill loved to travel and spend time at their summer home in Quebec, Canada. After Bill’s passing in 2009, Marie stayed active loving her grandchildren and perfecting her new love for art and painting.
She was the beloved wife of the late William M. “Bill” Laughrea. Loving mother of William M. “Biff” Laughrea, Jr. & his companion Claire Whalen of Lowell, Nancy L. Downing & her husband George of Plymouth, and Robert J. “Bob” Laughrea & his wife Cindy of Newton. Dear sister of Rita Scudder of Watertown, Sr. Christine “Peggy” Loughlin, OP of Plainville, and the late Joseph Loughlin & Robert “Jake” Loughlin. Loving grandmother of Molly Downing of Chestnut Hill, Megan Downing of Billerica, Cassandra Laughrea of Boston, & Courtney Laughrea of Newton. Also survived by her in-laws James Laughrea & Pauline Laughrea.
Funeral from the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. Watertown Tuesday April 23, 2019, 2018 at 8 AM followed by Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown at 9 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
Interment St. Patrick Cemetery.
Visiting hours Monday 4-8 PM.
