A son of the late James A. Crowley and Ann E. (McEnaney) Crowley, Dick passed away Tuesday evening.  He was 78.

Dick was born in Natick and was a longtime resident of Watertown.  He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Waltham, Class of 1959, received an associates degree from the Lowell Institute and after college he join the United States Marine Corp in 1962.

After his service, Dick worked and dedicated his life to Watertown.  He started off as an employee of the Town of Watertown in the engineering department, later he went on to become the assistant recreation director of Watertown and worked under his lifelong friend Tom Sullivan for 10 years.

He had the honor and privilege of coaching Watertown youth sports for over fifty years, in a variety of different sports.  In later years worked at Kids in Common (K.I.C.) after school program at the Lowell School.  He was a boys and girls youth basketball coach and of course he coached his true love, baseball.

As a lefty, Dick was quite the pitcher.  He played little league, Lou Gehrig, Connie Mack, and St. Theresa’s CYO, Stan Musial, and played for St. Mary’s.  Later in life he brought his playing experience from the field to the bench become an excellent baseball coach for the youth.  Dick was thankful to have met so many great coaches, kids, and parents through the sports he played and coached.

He was the beloved son of the late James A. & Ann. E. (McEnaney) Crowley.  Dear brother of the late Brian J. Crowley & Charlene Labbe. Loving uncle of Tim R. Labbe of Franklin and Michelle Ferullo & her husband David of Reading. Cousin of Kevin McEnaney of N. Conway NH. Dear friend of Thomas Sullivan, Sarinah Brown, David Ciccarelli, and countless others.
