Bridget Dorothy Danis, 77, of Watertown, passed away peacefully on July 18th surrounded by family in her home.
She was born in Ballyhiague, Ireland on August 12th, 1943, daughter of Anne and Michael Deane. She emigrated to the United States in 1961 to join her sister, Mary, as they began their new lives in a new country. After a brief stint in the executive offices of King’s Department stores, she secured a position at Watertown Town Hall where she flourished in both the Planning and Building departments for a total of 32 years. Her favorite activities included travel, gardening, live Irish music and dancing, and time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her spouse, Harold Danis, and two daughters, Doreen Barako and Debra Barker. She is also survived by four siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Deanna Danis.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Dorothy touched are invited to the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. Watertown, MA on Wednesday, July 21st from 4-7 pm to reminisce, grieve, support each other, and of course, just chat.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 22nd in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown, MA at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
Interment at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at 1:45 PM.
