We are sad to announce the passing of Catherine (“Kitty”) Derita of Watertown, MA. She died at Tewksbury Hospital on March 15th, 2023, at age 90. Catherine passed away peacefully after a short illness.
Catherine was born on March 24th, 1932, in Boston, MA. Catherine was the daughter of the late Otto & Florence (Perkins) Derita. She worked hard throughout her adult life at Globus Gateway where she was held in high regard by her co-workers until her retirement. In 1984 she moved to independent senior housing in Watertown MA where she lived with her beloved cat, Jessi. Catherine received ongoing support services from dedicated staff at Charles River West area DDS and the Edinburgh Center. She was a pleasant and independent woman and a “friend” in the community. Always greeting others with a smile and kind words. Catherine enjoyed daily walks to Watertown square, the Arsenal and Watertown malls, frequenting Dunkin’ Donuts and local restaurants to meeting friends for a chat or just people watch. She loved animals and enjoyed reading and watching movies. She also spent time and attended many outings with her guardian Jeanne Morrison of Hyannis and her guardian’s mother and niece. Special thanks to the Watertown neighbors of 465 Arsenal Street and the Watertown police for their friendship and care.
A visitation will take place at 1:30 on Wednesday March 15 in the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2:30. Friends of Catherine are kindly invited to attend.
