Christena A. (MacDonald) McGillivray

MCGILLIVRAY, Christena A., age 95, of Watertown, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 24, 2022, surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. 

Christena was born July 17, 1926, in Inverness, Nova Scotia and was the daughter of the late Neil J. and Catherine Ann (MacNeil) MacDonald.  She was a devoted parishioner of Saint Patrick Parish in Watertown and an avid watcher of Catholic TV.

Christena was the beloved wife of the late Leonard F. McGillivray.  She and Leonard raised their two daughters in New Waterford and then immigrated to Watertown, MA in 1961.  She was widowed after 50 plus years of marriage and she recently marked her 95th birthday with joy and gratitude.  Christena always looked forward to celebrations with her family and friends.  She enjoyed an active social life and traveling with those she loved. 

Loving mother of Debbie and her husband Robert Augusta of Foxboro and Irene and her husband Allen Gallagher of Watertown. Dear sister of the late Sr. Catherine MacDonald CND, Anna Mae McCarthy, Catherine J. Fraser, Angus Charles MacDonald, John Alec MacDonald, and Archie Neil MacDonald. Loving grandmother of Dawn Michienzie (Derek), Dr. Allyson Shrikhande (Gautam), Robert Augusta (Victoria), Ashley Burns (Jeffrey), Brian Gallagher, and Meghan Gallagher. Doting great-grandmother of Emma, Madison, Sophia, Ava, Brayden, Brielle, Quincey, Brynnley, Dempsey, Bennett, Jackson, and Neil.  She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown, MA at 10:00 AM on Saturday March 5th, 2022. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
