In Loving Memory of David Ciommo

David C. Ciommo, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born in Cambridge to the late Mario and Mary (Mercurio) Ciommo, David grew up in Belmont on Grove Street, where he was lovingly raised by his mother and his Aunt Millie.

From an early age, David’s charm, humor, and outgoing nature were impossible to miss. He was that kid everyone knew — quick with a smile, always ready with a joke, and never one to pass up a good conversation. Growing up in a close-knit Italian-American family instilled in him the belief that family comes first — a value he lived every day of his life and passed on to his own children.

At just 20 years old, David met the love of his life, Mary, and it didn’t take long before he knew she was “the one.” They welcomed their daughter, Kimberly, and their son, David Jr., who became the center of their world. As a husband and father, David worked tirelessly — often holding down multiple jobs from a young age as well as while attending Bentley College, where he earned his degree in finance. His work ethic was unmatched, but his heart was even bigger.

Throughout his career, David built a reputation as a dedicated professional and a genuinely trustworthy good man. He was highly respected by colleagues, many of whom became friends, and stayed close to him long after his retirement. Known for his quick wit and soft smile, he had a knack for making people feel welcome wherever he went — whether it was the office, the golf course, or the dinner table.

David believed in working hard, but he also knew how to play hard. He cherished the fishing trips and golf outings with friends and relatives, hosting and attending summer cookouts, as well as the monthly card games that were more about laughter and camaraderie than winning. And there was always the occasional overnight casino adventures! He and Mary loved to travel, especially to warm, sunny destinations where they could relax and enjoy life, reflecting back on what they had accomplished together.

After retiring, David found joy in the simple things — spending time with family, sharing stories, and being surrounded by those he loved most.

David will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Mary (Sutherland) Ciommo; his daughter, Kimberly Ciommo LeBlanc of Salisbury; his son, David C. Ciommo Jr., and his wife, Dawn Caufield, of Goshen, Kentucky; his cherished grandchildren, Jacqueline (Ciommo) Maloof, her husband David Maloof, Aurora, Ryan, and Griffin; and his precious great-granddaughter, Amelia Vivienne.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law Wendy (Sutton) Ciommo of Pennsylvania, and many loving nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Marion (Ciommo) Leombruno and Robert Ciommo, as well as several dear brothers- and sisters-in-law who were family in every sense of the word.

David lived his life with humor, integrity, and a generous spirit. He loved deeply, laughed often, and never missed an opportunity to remind those around him how much they mattered. His legacy lives on in the countless hearts he touched — and in the stories that will no doubt continue to be told, often with a smile and maybe a little laughter, just the way he would have wanted.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, October 9th, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 10th, 2025 at 11:00 am.
