Dorothy Ciavati Obituary

It is with great sadness, the family of Dorothy Ciavati of Belmont say goodbye to their loving mother. Dorothy passed away peacefully on Nov. 26th. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert John Ciavati, devoted mother to Dale Ciavati, her husband Richard (Catrambone) of Westborough and Lynn Ciavati and her wife Lauren (Walsh) of Belmont. Above all else, she adored and was so very proud of her two granddaughters, Dana and Rae.

Dorothy was a devout Catholic and an active member of St Luke’s Church of Belmont.  She and her late husband volunteered countless hours, organizing and fundraising “The Couples Club” dances. Dorothy volunteered at St Luke’s School, taught religious education and served as a Eucharistic Minister.

She is survived by her dear brother Michael Scordino, his wife Anna and also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by 8 other siblings; Catherine DeGregorio, Dolly Durgom, Camilia "Millie" Fererra, Josephine Ciresi, Margaret "Midge" DeLuca, Ann "Humsey" Scordino, Anthony "Peek A Boo" Scordino, Michael "Sonny" Scordino, June "Junie" Mouradian and her sister born of her heart, Yolanda "Yolie" Curbelo. She was very proud of her industrious family and told many stories of growing up in Boston working in the family beauty business. She realized how fortunate she was to have such a close, loving family whose kindness and generosity was shared beyond her immediate family to their community.

It came naturally for Dorothy to extend her bountiful spirit and open heartedness to others and so she earned a multitude of friends by expressing a sincere interest and genuine kindness to everyone she knew.  She will be lovingly remembered for her unwavering faith, heart of gold, impeccable style and love of baking. She will be dearly missed by more friends than we can count.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Visiting hours will be held in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, 270 Main St., Watertown on Thursday December 1st, from 10 AM to 12 Noon, followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon.
