Fatos Beqari

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fatos Beqari, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher, and friend, who left us peacefully on May 8th 2025.

Born in the beautiful city of Gjirokaster on June 29, 1948, he was the son of Tahmaz and Shpresa Beqari. At a very young age, he found his passion for history as he traveled and lived in a number of historic cities in Albania. He graduated from the University of Tirana with a bachelor's degree in History. A dedicated educator, Fatos was a history teacher for many years in the city of Shkoder, a profession he loved with passion and commitment. His enthusiasm for history was infectious, and he had a remarkable ability to inspire students to explore the past and understand its significance. His lessons went beyond the classroom, as he encouraged his students to appreciate the lessons history offers and to approach life with genuine curiosity and an open mind.

He was the beloved husband of Raimonda Beqari, and a devoted father to his three children, Etleva, Alketa and Ols. In addition, Fatos took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to his six grandchildren: Arti, Jason, William, Jackie, Emma and Natalie. His love and wisdom will live on in them.

As a brother, Fatos shared a deep bond with his siblings: Neki, Tatjana, and Shkelqim. His family was his foundation, and he took immense pride in the relationships and memories he built with them.

Fatos's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His wisdom, kindness, and generosity were felt by all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues, but his memory will continue to guide and inspire those who carry his lessons forward.

Visitation will be held on Thursday May 15, 2025, at the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, 270 Main Street, Watertown, from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 11 AM on Friday May 16.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
