A Funeral Mass for Frederick William Colman will be celebrated on Tuesday May 9, 2023, at 10:00 am, in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St. Watertown.
A son of the late Albert & Marie (Heneghan) Colman, Fred passed away peacefully on May 5, 2023.
Born in Dorchester, Frederick was a proud graduate of Boston College class of 1960. After BC, he received his juris doctor from Suffolk Law in 1968. Throughout his life we worked diligently for the Army Corp of Engineers and retired as the Chief of Real Estate, Division of N.E. corps of engineers.
Fred was a proud member of O.F.D (originally from Dorchester), was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Div. 14 Watertown, and the American Legion Post 440. While raising his family in Watertown, he became the president of Watertown Youth Hockey and helped the program immensely. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, youth sports with his family, coaching Watertown youth hockey and in his later years he could also be found on the sidelines enjoying his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam conflict. Fred received the rank of specialist 4th class and was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Patricia Mary (Carty) Colman. Loving father of Stephanie Colman-Brochu & her husband Bernard of Upton, Frederick Colman, Jr. of Florida, and Christopher Colman (Lexington PD) & his wife Sarah of Stow. Loving father-in-law of Glens Colman of Needham. Dear brother of Catherine Daley of Milton, Richard Colman of Osterville, and the late Patricia McLellan, James Colman, & Albert Colman. Loving grandfather of Lt. Shaymus Colman (US Army) & his wife Annee, Carly Colman, Blake Colman, Adele Brochu, and Mary Colman.
Funeral from the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. Watertown Tuesday May 9, at 9 AM followed by Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Patrick 212 Main St., Watertown at 10 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Monday 4-7 PM.
