A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Church of St. Patrick, Watertown on Monday morning, October 22nd, 2018 at 9:00 AM for Francis Gary Murphy.
Mr. Murphy, a son of the late James Murphy and Rachael (Hayward) Murphy, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday evening after a period of declining health. He was 81 years of age.
Gary was born in Boston and was a lifelong resident of Watertown. Gary enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in January of 1962 after serving his country.
After his service, worked as a firefighter for the town of Watertown. Gary was stationed in Station 1 on Main Street & worked on Ladder 1. Gary retired as a lieutenant of the Watertown Fire Department in 2002.
Gary loved his family above all else. Family gatherings were a thing Gary always looked forward to; he loved to be with his wife, children, & grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his loving family in Watertown and also in Alton Bay, New Hampshire. Gary was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, enjoyed golf, and loved to take trips to Kimball Farms for an ice cream.
He was the beloved husband of Mildred E. (Farrell) Murphy. Devoted father of Linda Chiasson, Gary Murphy, Susan Hoban & her husband Timothy all of Watertown, Brian Murphy & his wife Tracy of Milton, Jeanne Donoghue & her husband Roger of Watertown, Kristin Currier & her husband Joseph of Burlington and Paula Murphy-Trotta & her husband Marc of Watertown. Loving grandfather of Michele Chiasson, Meghan, Kaitlyn & Shannon Murphy, Brendan Hoban, Elana & Jared Murphy, Emma Donoghue, JR & Robert Currier and great grandson Lucas Benoit. Dear brother of Virginia Ross of Marshfield and the late Clara Richardson, James, Lucius & Richard Murphy.
Funeral from the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. Watertown Monday Oct. 22, 2018 at 8 AM followed by Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown at 9 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
Visiting hours Sunday 2 - 6 PM.
Interment St. Patrick Cemetery. US Army Veteran.
