Harry M. Smith

Harry M. Smith of Watertown, August 2, 2021. Age 87.

A son of the late Carlton Brooks Smith & Dorothy (Marvin) Smith, Harry passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side.

Mr. Smith was a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was a proud graduate of Watertown High School and later on when on to Tufts University where he earned his bachelors degree.

Harry was a phenomenal athlete.  He ran many marathons, including running the Boston marathon several times. He was also an avid mountain climber and conquered all of the 4 thousand foot summits in the White Mountains.

Harry was a veteran of the United States Army. In the Army, he learned the details and intricacies of Morse code.  After his service, he was so fluent in Morse code; that he took up teaching it to others.

He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy E. (Pascoe) Smith. Loving father of Jennifer B. Smith of North Adams, Susan B. Smith of Lee, NH, and Virginia M. Helsmoortel of Watertown. Dear brother of the late Eleanor Jones.

There will be a private funeral service for Harry at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Watertown.
