Heather Elizabeth Lynch (Hennessey), 49, died on June 1, 2024 after a brief illness. Heather attended the Commonwealth School in Boston, graduated from Watertown High School and the University of Massachusetts. Before turning her attention to motherhood in 2011, Heather worked at Health Care for All and Boston’s Family Van. She was a fluent Spanish speaker, a skill she often put to use helping her non-English-speaking neighbors in East Boston, where she lived for most of the last twelve years.
Heather was a beautiful soul, who lived life through that soul, with a lovely generosity of spirit. She had a hard time seeing her own loveliness, in spite of the fact that it shone brightly for so many of us.
She took an eclectic interest in the life around her, often seeing what the rest of us couldn’t see (until she pointed it out to us!) She loved salsa, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Zora Neal Hurston and Maya Angelou, writing, drawing, cooking and long walks around Watertown’s stretch of the Charles River. Most of all Heather was dedicated to her daughter, Doreen, the love of her life. They shared an avid interest in learning about the animal world, often spent time sketching the world together, and enjoyed goofing on one another. They were as close as any mother and daughter would hope to be.
Heather, you are leaving a big hole in our lives. We love you forever.
A Memorial Service will be held at the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home 270 Main St. Watertown on Friday, June 21: Visitation 10 - 11 a.m.; Memorial Service 11 - 12 Noon.
