Helen (“Eileen") McCarthy Harold of Belmont, formerly of Waltham and East Watertown was reunited with her beloved husband Gerald Harold and sister Mary King on September 12, 2025. She was 91.
Helen is mourned by her son John Harold, daughter Maire("Maggie") Smith, granddaughter Katherine Smith of Somerset, nephews Tom King and Gary Howard. She also leaves behind nieces Maureen Bonta and Eileen Keegan-Pitts, nephew Brendan King as well as great-nieces and nephews.
She was devoted to the people and places she loved whether it was her family, neighbors on Circuit Lane or her lifelong parish of Sacred Heart Watertown. Helen was rewarded at age 70 for her faithfulness to the Red Sox when the Curse of the Bambino was finally lifted.
Helen will be remembered for her strength, wit, and adventurous spirit. She enjoyed simple things: New England autumns, good books and traveling with friend Carol Crowley. Her greatest joy was being with her granddaughter Katie whom she adored.
She always emphasized that there is a season for all things under heaven, and that we must "appreciate what we have while we have it ",not mourn her passing as it is the appointed time.
Helen always avoided an outright goodbye when parting, so we will send her off until we see her again with her preferred " Until next time, bye-bye for now."
