It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dearest sister, aunt, and friend, Janet Arlene McCullough. After a brief illness, Janet passed away on November 8, 2022, at the age of 78. She is survived by her brother Gordon McCullough and sister-in-law Deborah of Kingston, MA, and nieces Michele, Lisa, Christine, and Debra; by her sister-in-law Joan McCullough of Florida and nephews Stephen and Eric and niece Sharon; by several great nieces and nephews; and by her beloved dog, Domino. She is predeceased by her father and mother Hibbert and Gloria McCullough, and by her brothers Clayton and Donald.
Janet was a life-long resident of Watertown, MA. Her working years were spent mostly at AT&T. After a brief retirement, she became a school crossing guard for Watertown – work which she took a lot of pride in and for which her personality made her perfectly suited. She served on the Board of Watertown’s Council on Aging/Senior Center which she found gratifying and through which she cultivated many friendships over the years.
Janet filled her life with all sorts of joy – working, travelling, going dancing, bowling on a league, spending time with friends, and enjoying holidays with family; but to ask anyone who knew her well what brought her the most joy, they would most certainly say that it was animals. Her passion for caring for animals and particularly for her dogs over the years, was unmatched. With animals, and throughout her life, Janet always had an open, kind heart. All who loved her will miss her positivity, her independent spirit, the way her whole face lit up when she smiled, and her hugs – which truly were the most entertaining hugs anyone has ever given.
