Jean C MacDonald, of Natick, formerly of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the age of 81.
Jean was born on February 10, 1943, in Brighton to the late Joseph and Mary (Condon) MacDonald. She is predeceased by her devoted friend Bill Norris. She is survived by her sister, Molly Duffy, and her husband James of Natick, and her brother, Joseph MacDonald, and his wife Ruth of Watertown. She was a devoted aunt to her nieces MaryKate Fitzpatrick and her husband Leo of Natick and Shaileen Volpe and her husband Glenn of Millis, her nephews Brian MacDonald and his wife Tara and Kevin MacDonald and his wife Dawn both of Watertown. She is also survived by her grandnieces and grandnephews Joe Fitzpatrick, Cara Fitzpatrick, Molly Volpe, Kaitlin Volpe, Joseph MacDonald, Hannah MacDonald, Cameron MacDonald, and Andrew MacDonald.
Jean was a 1st grade teacher for 40years in Watertown. She devoted her life to teaching children. No child left her classroom not knowing how to read. Her classroom was always humming with activity. She made learning fun. She often had former students return to visit her and regale her with stories of all they learned from Miss MacDonald.
Jean loved spending time with family and friends. She made lifelong friends on the water at Adam Shore and on the slopes at Loon Mountain. She was active at St. Patrick Parish in Natick as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteering in other ways. But her true love was spending time with her grandnieces and grandnephews. Jean was always excited to go to the kids' games, recitals, plays, award ceremonies, and graduations.
Funeral from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street NATICK COMMON on Wednesday May 8th at 9am. Followed by Funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Church 44 East Central Street (Rt. 135) Natick at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, WATERTOWN. Visiting Hours on Tuesday May 7th from 4-7pm at John Everett and Sons Funeral Home.
