Joanne E. Murphy, 69, passed away on May 4 after a courageous yearlong battle with Glioblastoma complicated by Covid. She was the third child of Raymond A. Murphy Jr and Bernice T. Joanne is survived by siblings Denise Thomas and her husband Mike of Charlton, MA, Ray Murphy and his wife Sarah of Hudson, Ma, Patricia Salvo of Providence RI, and Kathleen Gebhardt and her husband Rob of Yreka CA. Joanne treasured her nephews David Piselli of Dudley, Adam Piselli of Worcester, MA, and her nieces Melissa Coroneos of Washington DC, Jessica Harrington of Enfield, NH, Kate Murphy of North Haven, CT. And Caitlin Murphy of Bourne, MA. A special blessing were her great nieces and nephews, Christopher and Brooke Piselli, Charlie and Cash Coroneos, and Hattie Harrington. Joanne is predeceased by her parents Raymond A. Murphy, Jr, and Bernice T. Murphy (McDonough), her brother Bernard (Ted) Murphy and brother-in-law Michael Salvo.
Joanne graduated from Watertown High School in Watertown, MA and began working right out of high school. In her early career she worked in the corporate offices of Star Market Corporation in Cambridge and Red Coach Grille in Newton in their Business and Accounting offices. She followed that with many years in the antiques industry where she spent the bulk of her career as Office Manager at CRN Auctions in Cambridge, MA. This is where she met many people who were incredibly special to her. Joanne loved family gatherings especially the yearly family vacation at Cold Springs in NH, a tradition that has repeated for over 40 years. She enjoyed old movies, 60’s music especially listening to the “King” Elvis, and if you ever met Joanne, you heard the best laugh ever. She was generous, easy going, patient, incredibly private and always loyal. We will cherish and miss her for all time.
Friends & Family are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 11 AM in the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, 270 Main St. Watertown on Saturday June 25. Visiting hours will be held from 10 to 11 AM. A private interment will be held at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
