A Funeral Mass for Lawrence P. Sullivan will be held on Saturday November 16, 2024, at 10 AM in the Church of St. Luke, 132 Lexington St. Belmont.
Mr. Sullivan was born in Boston to the late Lawrence and Kathleen (O’Neil) Sullivan. He passed away at home after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 74.
Larry grew up in West Roxbury and attended Catholic Memorial High School and Boston College, where he was a dedicated member of the track and cross-country teams. His passion for running continued well beyond college, leading him to complete the Boston Marathon (2:38 PR) numerous times, as well as the New York and Chicago Marathons. He participated in countless other races over the years, including the Falmouth Road Race and the Brew Run.
Larry loved coaching young runners and track athletes and helped lead the track and cross-country teams at both Watertown High School and Lasell College. His guidance inspired many, and his legacy lives on in the runners and athletes he coached.
Beyond running, Larry loved music, travel, Cape Cod, and precious time spent with his beloved family and friends. We will dearly miss his stories—like his telling of the 1972 Rolling Stones concert at the Garden, or the time he and his friends snuck into Fenway Park to watch the 1967 World Series.
He was the beloved husband of Donna (Kozar) Sullivan and the late Sheila E. (Kearney) Sullivan. Loving father of Rebecca J. Delaney & her husband Tim of Hingham and Laura S. Kennedy & her husband John of Portsmouth, NH. Loving grandfather of Nora & Cameron Delaney and Elizabeth, Frankie, & Jane Kennedy. Also survived by his sister-in-law Ellen Romay, brother-in-law John Kozar, & nephew Jesse Kozar.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday November 16 in the Church of St. Luke, 132 Lexington St. Belmont at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
