Murphy, Leon Joseph age 86 of Watertown, February 1. Beloved husband of 58 years to Gail A. (DeAngelis). Loving father of Diane Hairston and her husband Timothy of Watertown, Sharon Mercurio and her husband Mark of Pepperell, and Michael Murphy and his wife Donna of Framingham. Dear brother of David Murphy of New Mexico and the late Robert Murphy of Wyoming. Loving grandfather of Andrew Murphy, Kayla and Justin Mercurio, David Murphy, T.J. and Jayden Hairston and great grandfather to Benjamin Murphy.
U.S. Air Force Korea Veteran.
Retired employee of The Perkins School for the Blind where he traveled teaching internationally. Among the many awards he received during his 45 years of employment he treasured the Outstanding Service Award from the Bay State Council of the Blind.
Funeral from the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. Watertown, Saturday, February 5 at 9 AM followed by Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Church, 212 Main St. Watertown at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited.
Visiting hours Friday, February 4, 4-7PM.
Interment Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
