Mabel Frances (Price) Mills, 95, passed away on February 7, 2023, after a period of declining health. Mrs. Mills was born in Newton on December 2, 1927, to the late Annie (Ford) and Ernest Price. She was born on her mother’s birthday and was raised in Watertown. After graduating from Watertown High School, she attended Boston University. On June 5, 1948, she married Archie F. Mills. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage until his death on March 4, 2010. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Mills is survived by her children David (Judith) of Scituate, Barbara of Watertown, and Donald (Holly) of Woonsocket, RI, and her grandchildren Brian (Amy) of Montclair, NJ, and Adam (Natalia) of W. Hartford, CT. Beloved GG to her great-grandson, Connor.

Mabel enjoyed many hobbies. She was an accomplished knitter. Several people were the recipients of her Irish knit or character sweaters. Mabel’s green thumb was evident whether it was starting African violet plants from a single leaf or nurturing the plants she would start from seed each spring. Archie would plant those seedlings in their home garden. During harvest time Mabel would create wonderful meals and baked goods for family and friends. She also loved making her own jams, pickles, and relishes.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday May 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, 270 Main St. Watertown.  Followed by an interment in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham.  A visitation will take place before the service starting at 10:30 AM on Thursday.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Salvation Army or the American Diabetes Association.
