Martin Robert Finn of Watertown, MA died Monday March 4th at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA at peace. Martin Robert Finn was born in Watertown, MA on December 18th 1929. Son of the late Martin J. Finn and Mary Ready. Husband of Helen Burns Finn, Father of Robert A. Finn, Geralyn Finn Robinson (Scott), and Amanda Finn Holmes (Seth). Grandfather of John, Natalie, Aileen, Michael, Gerard, and his grand dog, Shane. Martin is predeceased by his siblings Claire, John (Jack), Father James Finn, Patricia, and Janet. He is survived by many nieces and nephews from around the country.
Martin, Bob or “Marty” graduated from Watertown High School, Class of ’47 and served two years during the Korean War and achieved the corporal status. He served as a court reporter and field secretary to General Mark Clark. After the service, he got his Bachelors (’58) and Masters (’62) degrees from Northeastern University and became a teacher at Watertown High School. He taught there for 42 years and always loved his profession and the students. Martin and his wife, Helen, enjoyed family vacations throughout their 63 years of marriage, especially Nova Scotia, summers on Cape Cod, various places throughout the United States, and Europe.
A Funeral Mass at St. Jude Church, 147 Main St. Waltham will be held on Saturday March 9th at 11:30 AM. Friends & family are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Watertown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the VA Bedford Healthcare System CDCE (135) 200 Springs Road Bedford, Massachusetts 01730 and to the Massachusetts Child, MTA Division of Communications 2 Heritage Drive, 8th floor Quincy MA 02171
