Mary Boudreau Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Elizabeth (Heffernan) Boudreau will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, Watertown.

Mary Elizabeth (Heffernan) Boudreau, a lifelong resident of Watertown, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at the age of 81.

Born in Cambridge on August 7, 1943, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late John E. and Mary J. (Barnes) Heffernan. She grew up on Charles River Road in Watertown as the youngest of three children and remained deeply connected to her community throughout her life.

A proud graduate of Rosary Academy, Mary went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from Boston College. Early in her career, she worked as a teller at Watertown Savings Bank, but her true calling was as an educator, teaching third and fifth grades at the Parker School in Watertown. After the birth of her twin daughters, “the twins", in 1975, Mary chose to dedicate herself fully to her family.  Her son was born in 1982, completing the family she cherished so deeply.  Being a mother is a role she treasured above all others.

In 1970, Mary married the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Boudreau. Their 43-year marriage was filled with love, laughter, and deep devotion to one another and their family. Mary was a loving and selfless mother who found immense joy in raising her children and, later, in doting on her grandchildren and grandpuppies. Her home was always open, warm, and full of love—a reflection of her kind and generous spirit.

Mary’s interests were rooted in simple pleasures: she loved spending time with family, attending church, and keeping up with her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She also enjoyed social gatherings with friends, and quiet afternoons with a good book. Her presence brought comfort and joy to those around her.

Mary was the devoted wife of the late Gerald R. Boudreau. She leaves behind her cherished children: Judith A. James and her husband Christopher of Londonderry, NH; Jeanne M. Burhoe and her husband John of Holliston; and Raymond J. Boudreau and his wife Sarah of Waltham. She was the loving grandmother of Jonathan F. James, Evan J. Burhoe, Elizabeth M. James, and Henry J. Boudreau. Mary was predeceased by her siblings, John E. Heffernan Jr. and Marjorie A. Freeley, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Mary’s legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will be cherished and remembered always.
