Mary H. Farrell
December 24, 1927, to May 8, 2022
Mary Hannon Farrell, lifelong resident of Watertown, passed away at her home on Mother's Day surrounded by her loving family. She was 94.
Eldest daughter of the late Mark and Ella (McGuire) Hannon, Mary was born and reared in Watertown, and was a graduate of St. Patrick High School and Bryant & Stratton Business School. She was a daily communicant at St. Patrick's Church and St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton, the latter of which she worked for 27 years. After retirement, Mary worked for several years at St. Patrick's.
Mary found fulfillment in her family, loved a good Irish dance with her husband, corralled her brood on countless trips to Nahant Beach and Wisconsin, and spent many hours visiting with family and friends having tea and Irish bread in the kitchen in Watertown or at the family home on Cape Cod.
Mary is survived by her husband of 66 years (and dance partner of 67), Daniel; her children, Daniel of Watertown, Eileen Burk (David) of Burlington, John, Mary Ellen, and Richard of Watertown, Bernadette (Peter Beck) of Wakefield, Anne Michaud (Gerard) of Billerica, Erin (Paul McPartland) of Needham, Paul and Mark of Watertown, and Steven (Todd Robinson) of Dorchester. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Erin Atkinson, Glenna McPartland, Brian Burk, Max McPartland, Deirdre Beck, Tighe Beck, Kayla Michaud, and Eadeen Beck; one great-granddaughter Quinn Mary Burk; and 29 nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her husband’s brothers Robert (Rosemary) Farrell and Jack Farrell, all of Wisconsin.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, Mark and Ella, her siblings (and spouses), Thomas (Ann) Hannon, Francis (Ruth) Hannon, Sr. Eileen Hannon, OP, Margaret Hannon, and Fr. John Mark Hannon, and sister-in-law Ruth Farrell.
Funeral from the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. Watertown Thursday May 12, 2022, at 9 AM followed by Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown at 10 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-7 PM. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery.
