Mary G. (Zengo) Kotelly, 93, of Belmont, passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2026.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristine A. Kotelly; brother, Peter Zengo and his wife, Arlene; and brother-in-law, Richard Kotelly and his wife, Jane. She also leaves behind a niece, several nephews, her godchildren, and many great-nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Arthur T. Kotelly; daughter, Jeanne M. Kotelly; sister, Lillian G. Zengo; and sister-in-law, Loretta (Kotelly) Economy and her husband, Richard.
Born in West Somerville to Andrew Zengo and Elizabeth (Kere), she graduated from the secretarial course at Somerville High School and proudly attended The Academie Moderne. Mary went on to work at United Wholesale Drug and, later, as a legal secretary for the Boston law firm Bernkopf Goodman.
A dedicated member of St. George Albanian Orthodox Cathedral, Mary sang in the choir and was active in the Ladies Guild and the Daughters of St. George, serving as secretary for both groups for many years.
A passionate miniature enthusiast, Mary hand-crafted detailed miniature furniture, creating both petit point and intricate needlepoint. She possessed an endless curiosity and a love for learning, frequently immersing herself in classes to master new creative arts, from tole painting to cake decorating.
Her favorite song was Charlie Chaplin's 'Smile' and she lived its message to the end.
A private service will be held by the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Mary's memory to St. George Albanian Orthodox Cathedral, 523 East Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127.
