Watertown, MA – Mary (Sperandio) McDonald-Guido, 96, after a brief illness on May 16, 2023. She was born June 1, 1926 in Watertown, the daughter of Alessandro and Ginevra (Colatei) Sperandio originally of Guidonia, Montecelio, Italy.
Mary graduated from Watertown High School in 1944. After the war, she married Alexander McDonald and they settled in Watertown. She was a loving aunt and daughter. She also worked as a secretary at what is now Sasaki Associates until her retirement. After the passing of Alexander, she reconnected with her former sweetheart, David Guido - after 50 years - and they were married for 23 years before his death in 2020.
Mary will be remembered by the many generations of her family and so many friends as a woman of both profound faith and endless optimism. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Watertown. Her greatest joy was time spent with family and friends and she delighted in catching up over a delicious meal. Mary loved to laugh. A consummate and animated storyteller, she passed so many wonderful and remarkable memories to generations of her captivated family members. Mary and David were very active in the Pvt Shutt Marine Corps League Detachment in Watertown and Mary was a dedicated donor to many organizations.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, Alexander and David, Mary is predeceased by her siblings, Antoinette, Cielo, Nino and Muffy, as well as her nephew, Alexander “John” Sperandio.
She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews: David (Mary Ann) Sperandio of Franklin, Jo-Ann (Thomas) Murray of Gig Harbor, Washington, Stephen Sperandio (Wendy Roberts) of Concord, NH, Kathleen (Tim) Regan of Osterville, Rich (Diane) Sperandio of Houston, TX, Linda Sperandio (Robert McDowell) of Concord, and Nina Sperandio of Holbrook, as well as her loving Goddaughter, Mary (Bernard) DiBuduo of Quincy, in addition to generations of their families, all of whom adored Mary.
