In Loving Memory of Maureen F. Peck
January 15, 1931 - October 31, 2024
Maureen F. Peck, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024 at 93. She was the devoted wife of Glen B. Peck Jr., with whom she shared a loving marriage of 65 years. Together, they made their home in Belmont, Massachusetts, creating a life full of family, friendship, and community.
Born to Irish immigrants James Coleman and Christina Callahan Coleman, Maureen grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts, alongside her brothers, James and Jack, and sisters, Helen, Margaret, Christine, and Karrie. Her roots in Cambridge were the foundation for a life rich in embracing her Catholic faith and close friendships.
Maureen was the proud mother of James Peck (wife Valerie) Carolyn van Gemeren (husband Marco}, Christine Crawford (husband Scott) and Matthew Peck (wife Blaine). Maureen cherished her role as a grandmother to Quinn, Ali, Marco, Brigit, Will, Ewan, and Gigi. Her family was her pride and joy, and her love for them was evident in everything she did.
After graduating from Cambridge High and Latin in 1948, Maureen worked for the City of Cambridge as a clerk in the Mayor’s Office. After raising a family, she joined the Belmont Hill School, where she spent nearly two decades. As the school’s receptionist, she was more than just a friendly face—she became a confidant and a trusted presence in the lives of two generations of students and teachers. Her warmth, humor, and caring spirit left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Maureen’s life was a testament to the values of family, love, and kindness. Her legacy lives on in her family, friends, and the many lives she touched. She will be missed deeply and remembered with love. Memorial donations can be made in Maureen’s honor to Belmont Hill School. The family will hold a private service and burial with a Memorial Mass to follow.
