A Funeral Service for Maurits Grunberger will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, 270 Main Street, Watertown. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will be private.

Mr. Grunberger passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at the age of 98.

Born in Medan, Indonesia, he was the son of the late Benhard and Moen Grunberger. As a young man, he immigrated to Holland with his brother, where he trained and worked as an electrician. He proudly served as a veteran of the Dutch military, working as an Air Force mechanic. In 1960, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by immigrating to the United States to begin a new chapter.

In America, Maurits discovered his passion for the culinary arts. He trained formally in culinary school and became a skilled chef, sharing his love of cooking with family and friends. His dedication to his craft and his quiet determination reflected the strength and perseverance that guided his life.

He was the beloved husband of Klazina (Buitenhek) Grunberger. He was a devoted father to Maurits Grunberger, Jr. of Stoneham and Saskia Grunberger of Cambridge. He was the dear brother of the late Benhard Grunberger, Jr.

Maurits will be remembered for his resilience, his work ethic, and his deep love for his family.
