Paul Francis Shutt

A Funeral service was celebrated on Wednesday August 25, 2021 at 1 PM in the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home for Paul Francis Shutt.

Mr. Shutt was a son of the late George Leo Shutt & Marion Louise (MacGregor) Shutt. Paul passed away after a brief illness on Thursday August 19, 2021 at the age of 76.

Paul was born in Boston and raised in Watertown. He was a graduate of St. Patrick High School in Watertown, after high school he went on to Holy Cross University in Worcester where he received his Bachelor’s degree in English & American Literature. Paul was a man with a brilliant mind. Some of his hobbies and interests include art, architecture, theatre, opera, history, philosophy, religion, and poetry.

In 1978, Paul joined the Peace Corps, and became a TEFL Instructor at Kabul University in Afghanistan.  Later he moved to New York City and worked as an ESL teacher-teaching immigrant Americans English.  Paul traveled the world and love to immerse himself into different cultures. Some of the places he traveled were Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, England, Canada, Japan, and Hong Kong just to name a few.

He was the loving father of Cristine E. de Chavez of Shrewsbury and Paul Anthony Shutt of Martha’s Vineyard.  Caring grandfather of Audrey & Ayla Kuncewicz and Lilly Shutt, whom will be with us very soon.  Dear brother of Mary T. Smith of Forestburg TX, Virginia E. Bryant of Cape Cod and the late George J. Shutt & Gail M. Shutt.  Also survived by several nieces & nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, 270 Main St. Watertown on Wednesday August 25th at 1:00 PM. Relatives & friends kindly invited. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Watertown.

Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
