Phyllis M. (Cameron) Stadtman passed away in the Lowell General Hospital on Friday March 13, 2020. She was 94.
She was born September 14, 1925 in Newton, MA. A daughter of the late Margaret Weldon Cameron and John Archie Cameron. Sister to John Richard Cameron.
Phyllis lived in Watertown all her life. In 1954 they bought their home on Warren Street Watertown. She attended Watertown Public Schools and graduated from Watertown High School, class of 1943.
She worked as a waitress at Florence & Cyril Ellis’ Chicataubut Inn in Gloucester for the summer of 1943.
She then attended Fisher Jr. College taking the Secretarial Course and graduated in 1944.
Phyllis was employed as a secretary for the managing editor of a weekly trade paper “Hotel & Restaurant News” and later worked at the Boston Convention & Tourist Bureau.
On September 23, 1950 she married Edward Albert Stadtman who she met at Phillips Congregational Church. They had 2 children, John Robert and Joanne, called Jody. One grandson John Robert, Jr. who was dearly loved and Jack Hayes & Matthew Albert both great grandsons who were delights.
She was a member of Phillips Congregational Church, XL’s of Phillips Church, Deaconess, President with Al of Phillips Club, Treasurer of Women’s Fellowship, Finance committee, helped Al run Military Whist parties, a member of Watertown Women’s Club.
She enjoyed gardening, crafts and some knitting. She also enjoyed antiques, especially antique furniture, antique shows and flea markets. Best of all was traveling to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and many places in the US. She spent many summers in Nov Scotia there home away from home. She also loved Cape Porpoise, Maine.
She made all kinds of desserts, pecan pie, lemon cookies, cranberry squares and lemon squares. Everyone like them.
Trips to England, Scotland, Wales, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Iceland.
Al and Phyllis had a wonderful life together, her beloved Al died April 16, 2014, age 91.
A graveside funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, March 16th, 2020 at the family grave, Ridgelawn Cemetery, corner of Stuart and Highland Ave Watertown at 1 PM. Relatives & friends kindly invited.
