Rev. Albert Sallese Obituary

A Funeral Mass for Rev. Albert J. Sallese will be held on Friday February 2, 2024, at 12 Noon in the Church of St. Patrick, Watertown.

Al was born in Waltham to the late Pasquale & Adelina (Frissora) Sallese. Rev. Sallese passed away on January 27, 2024 at the Regina Cleri Residences in Boston.  He was 91.

 

Albert was a proud graduate of St. Patrick high School in Watertown, he graduated in 1951. After high school, he joined the United States Navy where he served from 1952 to 1956.

 

Rev. Albert J. Salles was ordained to the priesthood on May 26, 1966, by Cardinal Cushing. His first assignment was at Most Holy Redeemer Parish in East Boston. This started his very active and enjoyable priesthood.

 

Rev Al’s assignments included:

Most Holy Redeemer Parish, East Boston 1966 – 1974

St. Joseph Parish, Medford 1974 – 1976

St. Patrick Parish, Stoneham 1976 – 1984

St. Bernadette Parish, Randolph 1984 – 1988

Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, East Boston 1988 – 2000

Pastor of Resurrection Parish, Hingham 2000 – 2002

Pastor of St. Bernadette Parish, Randolph 2002 -2003

St. Boniface Parish, Quincy 2003 to retirement

St. Blaise Parish, Bellingham 2003 -2011

Blessed Sacrament/St. Margaret Parish, Saugus 2011 to retirement.

 

In April of 1970, Governor Fostor Furcolo appointed Al to the Board of Directors on the Massachusetts Port Authority. He served on this board for 11 years and became vice-chairman of the board.

 

Cardinal Law appointed Rev. Al as Vicar Forane, Central Region in 1996. He was also chaplain for the Randolph Auxiliary Police department with the rank of Captain. Al was proud member of the Knights of Columbus Assembly 0404, Boston.

 

He was the beloved son of the late Pasquale & Adelina (Frissora) Sallese. Loving brother of Jeannie Sallese of Watertown, Mary “Dolly” Velardi of Burlington, and the late Philomena Reena, Anthony Sallese, Catherine DeCamillis, Mary Sallese, & Margaret Tramontozzi. Caring uncle of many nieces & nephews.

 

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday Feb. 1, in St. Patrick Church, 212 Main St. Watertown from 3 to 6 PM. His Funeral Mass will take place at 12 Noon on Friday, Feb. 2nd in St. Patrick Church Watertown. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Watertown.
