Richard Francis Burke, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Francis Burke, Sr. will be held on Saturday June 22 at 10 AM in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church 89 Arlington St. Acton.

Mr. Burke was born in Boston to the late Thomas Edwin & Sarah Katherine (Whelin) Burke. Richard passed away on June 14, 2024, in Bedford, Massachusetts.  He was 90.

He was the beloved husband of Katherine “Kay” Burke. Loving father of Richard F. Burke, Jr & his wife Tammy of Ashland and the late Bernard J. “Bean” Burke. Caring stepfather of Rosemary Taylor & her husband Steve, Karen Santini & her husband Chris, Jennifer Daley & her husband Scott Carpenter, Joanne Daley & her husband Mark Poutenis, & Michael Daley & his wife Addie. Dear brother of Joyce Melanson and the late Thomas Burke, George, Charles, & Ronald Jigarjian. Loving grandfather of Barbara Ojerholm & her husband Kyle, Ron Burke & his wife Alexandra, Marie Burke & her fiancé Connor Brown, Jessica Busby & her husband Nicholas, Luke Daley-Poutenis, Ella Santini, Quinn Daley-Poutenis, Aidan Santini, Caleb Carpenter, Julia Carpenter, Sam Daley, Josephine Daley, Katherine Carpenter, and Adrienne Daley. Doting great-grandfather of Lukas & Kyle Ojerholm and Shawn, Zachary, & Kaelynn Busby. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by Charles “Carlie” Jigarjian & Thomas Burke, III.

Visitation will be held on Friday June 21 at MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, 270 Main Street, Watertown, from 4-7 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church 89 Arlington St. Acton on Saturday June 22 at 10 AM. An interment with military will take place at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge at 12 Noon.
