Ruth E. Ashworth

A funeral service for Ruth E. Ashworth will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, Watertown.

Ruth E. Ashworth, 68, of Belmont, passed away in Peabody on March 29, 2026, after a period of declining health. She was the beloved daughter of the late Robert E. and Laura (Gunnarsdottir) Ashworth.

Born in at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Brighton and raised in Belmont, Ruth was a graduate of Belmont High School and Northeastern University. She worked as a lab technician and was known for her creativity and love of art, especially drawing. Ruth found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time at the beach, traveling, and, in her younger years, camping with her family at Shady Knoll on Cape Cod.

Ruth is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Robin Schroeder of Worcester; June Lima and her husband, Joe, of Charlton; and Robert G. Ashworth and his wife, Cheryl, of Harwich. She was a caring aunt to Jocelyn, Joshua, Matthew, and Craig, and shared a special bond with her dear friend and “sister,” Janet Jefferson.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, April 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 noon at the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, 270 Main Street, Watertown.

Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery.
