Sophie “Sandy” Gemmato of Watertown, September 18, 2022. Age 92. Sandy was born in the North End of Boston to Polish immigrants and moved to the West End. Sandy met her husband Frank in the West End and they later married in Tucson, Arizona and returned to settle in Watertown raising their four children where she lived for 60 plus years. She was a devout catholic and a parishioner at St. Theresa’s Church where she taught CCD, attended prayer groups, and was a member of Sodality. She was also a member of the “bead ladies” where they made rosary beads for the less fortunate. In addition to being a great cook, she loved to quilt, knit, sew, travel, bowl and take care of her eight grandchildren.
Those who knew her well, remember her as being warm, kind and having a great sense of humor. Her family was everything to her and their needs always came first. She cherished her family and friends and would do anything for them.
She is survived by her three children Karen (Brian), Paul (Miggs), and Lori (Jack). 8 grandchildren, Stephanie, Kara, Nick, Nate, Tim, Maria, Emily and Chris. She is predeceased in death by her husband, Frank and daughter, Susan.
