Cathy I am so sorry for you and the boys. I am happy that I got to see you both and see Dan one last time. You all were a huge part of my childhood memories and I will always remember his humor, kindness, and that thick accent. He is at peace now and no longer in pain. I will pray that you all find some comfort in this difficult time. Please know that I am sending you all my love.

To Danny's family: I'm so sorry to learn of Danny's passing. I think the first unofficial boys & girls club Danny served was on Keenan Street in Watertown in the late 50s. As a teenager, Danny would often ask to play ball with our toddler son Johnny. He was so good with him. My husband, who passed away in May, was Danny's optometrist. We were so appreciate that he came to visit us when he was back in Watertown a few years ago. He will be missed. May his soul find peace in the Lord.

Thank you for the beautiful words. Dan spoke fondly of your husband. Dan told me that when he would take off his eyeglasses to play baseball in the street Jacob would yell out to him to put on his glasses back on. The price you pay for living on the same street as your optometrist. My condolences. Dan admired you both and I still have my boboian cookbook at home. My sons and I had made several dishes for Dan over the years.

Thanks you so much. I was talking bout you and Jacob yesterday at Dan's service.
We always felt very fortunate to have grown up in our wonderful multi cultural community on Keenan Street.

Dan was a friend and mentor. He shared his wisdom and advice with me when I first started as a brand new Exec Director at a Boys & Girls Club. He was passionate about his work with the Clubs. And even more importantly, he loved his family. Every conversation included anecdotes about his family and what a lucky man he was to have them. Heaven has gained a wonderful new resident.

Dan and I were best of friends throughout high school and college. After moving to the west coast he would always contact me when he was back in the Boston area and we would get together to reminisce and to update each other on what was happening in our lives.

Dan was the nicest guy I have ever known and I always felt honored that he wanted to be a friend of mine. When I was informed of his passing, I felt a deep sense of personal loss and I felt that this world was not quite as nice as it was with him in it.

Rest in peace, my friend.

I had the joy of meeting Dan on several occasions during my visits to Nevada.with Kathleen, his sister, and Jacqueline. He was charming and witty and spoke readily of his wife and family.
May God give you all His peace and help you get through this time.

So sorry for your loss, thoughts and prayers to your family. Mr. Casey helped my brothers and I when we were evicted from our apartment many years ago. He was always thinking of others and The Marr Boys and Girls club was a better place because of him.

Cathy, Alex, & Nolan: our family is devastated at this news. Ours hearts are broken with yours. We loved Dan. He was one of best persons God placed in our lives. So kind, friendly, generous, and helpful to our family. We will never forget Dan and what a true friend he was to all who knew him. The memories I have of him being an excellent role model to our own son, thru his friendship with Alex, are indelible. Praying that the Lord will comfort you and give you strength to carry on. We love you. 💙💔 The Matamoros Family

Dan was a gentle soul who was always ready with a kind word and a helping hand. I can still hear his laugh and see his smiling face. He loved his family and I know he'll be watching over Cathy and the boys. He will be missed and remembered by all of those whose lives he touched.

I have so many fond memories of Dan, mostly how he would jokingly call me his favorite sister in law and tease me every chance he got. I was a member of the Daniel Marrs boys and girls club at a young age and knew Dan most of my life. He was a generous, and fun loving person and I will miss him dearly. May you rest in peace My Brother in law.

My heart is heavy at the loss of my wonderful cousin Dan. He will be missed by all of his family and friends in the Boston area. When we travelled to California in 2011, Dan and Cathy were most hospitable to us. I remember that Dan took us to Santa Monica pier and to the infamous Boston fugitive Whitey Bulger's home where he had been found just a few days before. Dan was always so humble and very proud of his family and his work with the Boys and Girls Club. May God watch over your family and may you rest in peace.
