Paul Bernard Benedict

Memorial Services will be held for Mrs. Paul B. Benedict. Mr. Benedict was born in Silver City, New Mexico. He grew up in the Boston area and graduated from Boston College High School and Suffolk University in 1960.
He began his acting/directing career at the Charles Playhouse in Boston, starting as a janitor for $ 15.00 per week. Within a year he was building sets and running the box office. He became a regular at the Theatre Company of Boston from 1963 to 1968 before moving to New York. Mr Benedict, acted locally with the American Repertory Theatre and also appeared on television, playing the English neighbor Harry Bentley in the CBS series "The Jeffersons" from 1975 to 1985 and in the cinema in the comedies "This is Spinal Tap" and "A Mighty Wind". He died on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at his residence on Martha's Vineyard at the age of 70.
He was a loved actor, director, friend, uncle and brother. Paul is survived by his brother Charles and his wife Mary-Anne of Newton, MA, his sisters Regina Benedict Reynolds and her husband Charles of New York City, Jane Benedict Phinney and her husband Donald of Savoy, MA, Katherine McCarthy of Milton, MA and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was predeceased by hisparents Alma M. (Loring) Benedict and Mitchell M. Benedict, MD and his brother Mitchell "Bud" Benedict.
Memorial services will be held in Boston, Martha's Vineyard and New York at a later date.
Interment will be private.
